| There are a million courses on private property that don't have any bullshit permits. Permits are for public businesses not private property. Any land owner can build a private disc golf course or baseball diamond or basketball court or tennis court, on his land all he wants and let all his friends play there. No legal official has any right to post "stop work orders" like this unless the course is public and charges money. Then if its a business they can set rules about parking lots and stuff, but if it's private property the only legal way a town can ban a disc golf course is to make disc golf illegal, like dog fighting. They can stop dog fighting. The cops who posted those work orders were acting illegally. The only person who can ban disc golf on private property is the land owner. The "authorities" can't stop it. |

And with the "building dept."getting involved, i figure they're probably saying that the kisok and hole #1 bench was a sturcture that needed a building permit(and maybe the "parking lot" too) _________________ "Captain Anhyzer"

Woodstock it seems has there own set of fu*ked up laws. I worked in Woodstock, have friends there etc. They act like property is sacred land that needs town approval whenever someone wants to alter their property.
It's hard to believe the course is closed after being open for more than a year. Every time I went I was loving the course more and more. A true gem. _________________ Scoontars Disc Golf Art Store is now Open on Facebook

Morgan is right except that you can't open it to the public and that is the problem. The town saw the tournament poster and the web sites. We're not even pouring cement like a tennis court or basketball court or a pool which you would need a permit. Soon it will all be resolved, just be patient.
It really wasn't open for a year, it was only open to the landowner's friends
and he doesn't know any disc golfers.
As of now we need the town to sign off on the parking issue, then we can only invite friends. This my take a little time because they want site plans and neighbors approval which I think will happen or they get new homes built in there.
I'm working on it,

If my town does this to Hyzer I will just have to go underground. Like Split Rock was in New Paltz before Smitty sold it to that logger guy who closed it down and now the swimming area is down the road about 1 mile and people actually wear bathing suits!
Does ANYBODY remember that? Talking about the 60's and 70's, folks. And maybe early 80's. Hippie central. |

will ALWAYS have a tainted perspective regarding the village of Woodstock and its stuck up bureaucracy thanks to this. its closer to Babylon than Zion thats for sure.
