Hunter broke ground on the Zipline. Hope they don't impact any holes on the course.

http://www.thedailymail.net/articles/2010/01/10/news/doc4b493eb2215fc510216345.txt

Skot indicated that Hunter was interested in having a Peak course-with the chairlift running on week-ends for Skyrides, Mountain Biking, the Zipline, including a Disc Golf Course makes perfect sense.

Hopefully this means 2 courses in the future at Hunter-Base + Peak.

Hunter will be installing a new chairlift after the season ends next week.

Hot Off The Press! POMA 6-pack lift installation beginning soon!

We know the skiers and riders who call Hunter Mountain home love our slopes and the energy that surrounds us. We also realize that for our skiers and riders to truly enjoy these slopes, we need to invest in "your" mountain...what better investment, than a brand new base to summit lift?

Leitner-Poma has consistently been the leader in high-speed aerial lifts for the winter sports industry and they have been chosen to supply Hunter Mountain with a detachable Six Pack lift to replace the existing Snowlite Express (Quad-Lift). Construction will commence as soon as our season ends and we plan to have the new Six Pack up and running for some late summer Sky Ride enjoyment.

This capital improvement is another major step in the effort to make your experience here at Hunter Mountain all it could be... And that's not all. In the summer of 2011 we also plan to remove the Z & Y lifts on our famed West Side to make room for a Quad that will carry a new line and allow for better snow making coverage over the black diamond terrain.

We're looking for a name...so please drop us a line if you think you have the perfect name for the new Six Pack at Hunter Mountain!

Stayed tuned and watch our progress on HunterMtn.com all spring and summer long.

This won't impact the Disc Golf course. The course plays to the left of the lift. Hole 1 is close to the lift, but shouldn't be altered due to the construction.

Looking forward to Hunters website advertising Disc Golf this summer.

Only a couple months away.

I got the most recent green light from the HM execs. They are planning to rent discs as their nominal income stream and hope the golfers show up at the outdoor bar after their round. Can you say bug zapper? Anyway I'll meet with them this week and update the status. I never played on deep snow in shorts, like I did yesterday, that was kinda fun.

Things are feeling good, we may need a show of enthusiasm to push the last phase through. It seems as though nine are a done deal, and intent to 18 is a done deal, so get ready to throw 600 ft. what was that hang time record again?

played the 18 today, It's cool with the piles of snow everywhere. I shanked past a shack I hadn't shanked past before and changed the tee position for 5. back nine has a few changes to accomodate zip line. 10 will be a par four climbing hole across the trail into the woods. A bigger walk between 10 and 11 to accomodate zip line again. 9 is a little more interesting with a wooded green, and a new hole with wooded tee alley and pin. boots are recommended while the snow turns to guck, but worth the trek.

the back nine is very fun but not nearly as steep as the front. Still lots of elevated shots. In the off season, or when we are tired, we play the back nine twice. In a perfect world, the front nine will expand into a lift based course and the back nine will expand into a, gentler overall, walking course. the back nine has three baskets out right now and tees are mostly marked. I am leaning towards setting up the front nine first, but maybe in the interest of beginners and whiners, the back nine should be the start up, good point.

still experiencing technical difficulties, money and vehicle, hopefully things will break soon, until then I can't afford to gamble on my game. Scoon came out for a test run yesterday, we got lifted to the top by my friends cart service and played the 18 mostly, seemed to go ok.
still waiting on details before the first big push here.

The timing of the Zip-line + Disc Golf course being installed in 2010 is very cool. Skot had to change a couple holes from the original layout that I played in November. One hole plays close to the Zip-Line area-the walk to the next hole takes you by a canopy walk over a river + a newly built pavilion. Great place to take a break. The setting there has taken on a whole new life, that I was very impressed with. Skot had a hole in this area, but with the Zip-Line taking this area, it is now a walk to the next hole. Good promotion for the Zip-Line.

Many fun holes with Big Bombs.

At times we were playing snow golf-In a few weeks it should be gone.

DisCap players are going to be psyched to have the ONLY 18 HOLE DG Course at a Ski Resort in NY-in our directory of courses.

the snow is gone from the layout, we had a threesome on the back nine yesterday, it was mooky in many places as the snow above is still melting. I shot -1 and everyone emptied their bag into the wind on the elevated tee 14.

the snow is gone from the layout,

Sweet. A few more weeks and the mookies will be gone.

Zip Line is opening Memorial Week-end. Hunter wants to run the Zipline during MJ. Hope that's not a bad idea.

Will there be Disc Golf at MJ this year?

Mountain Biking Information

Dear Friends,

Hunter Mountain will welcome the 2010/2011 snowsports season with a brand
new POMA Six Pack lift, which will replace our Snowlite Express Quad. The
new Six Pack, which will be installed throughout the 2010 summer, will be
the only one of its kind in New York State. It is also currently New York's
largest ski resort capital improvement.

That said, we hate to disappoint our mountain biking patrons, but due to the
Quad coming out and limited access to the main downhill terrain, mountain
biking is discontinued. Hunter will not be offering access to its MTB park
until further notice. We have not decided whether we will resume operations
of our program in the future; at present time, there will be no mountain
biking available at Hunter Mountain.

We're sorry for the inconvenience, but it is for the betterment of our
resort and for the continued pleasure of hundreds of thousands of customers
in the future. We hope you understand and certainly encourage you to visit
any one of the other regional MTB parks: Plattekill or Diablo at
Mountain Creek.

Thank you,

Hunter Mountain Management

This does not affect the DG Course. It might help push the course to completion. Mtn Biking gone-Disc Golf + Zipline the new Happening activity at Hunter.
